Duane Newman

Duane Newman Mr. Newman received both his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Dayton. He has also done graduate level work in Mechanical Engineering at The Ohio State University.

Mr. Newman leads IAP Research's business and technology development activities for electromagnetic metal forming applications under our Magnepress Business Unit.    He also provides technical support to projects involving powder compaction, powder sintering, and metal joining technologies. Among Mr. Newman's accomplishments is his co-invention of U.S. Patent 5,611,139 entitled "Structure and Method for Compaction of Powder-Like Materials".   He also has several patents pending in other powder compaction applications.

His professional activities include membership of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). While at the University of Dayton, he was elected to membership in Pi Tau Sigma, National Mechanical Engineering Honor Fraternity. He has actively published articles in the IEEE Journal of Magnetics Transactions and has given an invited talks entitled "Constitutive Behavior of Metals Under High Strain Rate and Pulse Resistive Heating Conditions" at the ASM/TMS Materials Week 95 Symposium and "Novel Use of Electric Fields and Electric Currents in Powder Metal (P/M) Processing" at the 1999 Army Research Office Workshop - Enhanced Synthesis, Processing and Properties of Materials with Electric and Magnetic Fields.
