25 years ago IAP started in business as a leading expert on electro–magnetic launchers, in particular rail guns. Today, this is still a major part of IAP’s business as we work in support of the Department of Defense and large military contractors to design and build this amazing weapon of the future.

In addition to rail guns IAP designs other electro-magnetic launchers. For example, we have designed a self contained torpedo launcher that accelerates a 500 pound torpedo to a speed of over 40 miles per hour within a space of several feet.
Supporting this core expertise has lead IAP into the other areas of practice:
- advanced materials to stand up to the intense forces generated by rail guns
- magnetics to power the rail gun
- power electronics to control the sophisticated operation of such a weapon
